The Westland Racing Club advised that they would be holding a race meeting at Uireyinouth on June 3rd, and. .stating that though they knew it was the custom of the Union to hold a suVen-awside tourney on that day, ■ They trusted that the Union would give their assistance in tlie mattei. considering the recent set-backs experienced by the club.— deceived. A circular was received from the New Zealand Rugby Union advising that it had been decided to revert to tlie international rules of the game. - Received. it was decided to notify the SubUnion of the changes in the interpieta tion of the rules. The New Zealand Union notified Unit it had been decided to have one selector from the North Island and one from the South for the selection of North and South Island teams and ,ew Zealand teams. r .Mr A. A. Adams was nominated for the position as South Island selector. The N.Z. Union advised that the Buller Rugby Union knew nothing whatever concerning fhe proposed transfer of the Inangahua Sub-Union from the West Coast Union to the Rul ler Union, and advising further tfiat the matter be settled by mutual arrangement between the Unions concerned. It was decided to inform the Inangahua Sub-Union to this eiTecv, and stating that the West Coast Union offers no objection to the transfer, and advising them to arrange the matter with the Buller Union. .Mr Stokes said that twelve months ago at Hokitika, a Blaketown player had been ordered oft the field tor an offence and had received twelve month p disqualificateion for it. Last week before the game Blaketown v. Excelsior commenced, the referee, Mr Cutbusli, who was referee of the match in question twelve, months ago, went tip .to. - ih at player. Gault-on, and’told him lie was very sorry that tlie player had re'•eived such a severe punishment, hut said as long as he behaved himself, he would be all right that day. Mr Stokes considered that the remarks were quite uncalled for, and lie thought something. should be done in the matter. Mr Ryan said it was certainly an innilt to tlie player. Caulton had taken bis punishment without a word, and lien when he came back to play the referee 1 brought the matter up again. The Chairman said the referee probably meant well but it was very tact, less on his part to mention the mattor. —It was decided to take no action in tlie .matter.
The Chairman undertook to see the caretaker of Victoria Park re the first aid outfit, belonging to the Union. .Mr Steel was instructed to procure a he'll for the timekeeper. It was decided on the motion of Messrs Mclntosh and White that the U"ion’s new ground be named ‘‘Rugby Park.” It was decided to hold the annual seven-n-side tourney on June 3rd, and that nominations for all grades must he in by Tuesday, May IStb.
