All the export workers are now idle, but the householders are getting fair supplies of meat from the country killing centres. BANK DEPOSITS. SYDNEY, May 13. The effect of closing the Governmcint Savings Bank of New South Wales or Commonwealth Savings Bank is clearly evidenced by the figures for April. During that month the number of depositors of the Commonwealth institution increased by 15,026 to 1,356,214. whilst depositors balances increased lev £1,384.941 to £48,051,588. PROPOSED ELY. SYDNEY. May 13. Flying Officer J. A 1 oilison. the National Airways pilot plans to leave Australia within a fortnight to reach England in 7 days. Most ol his flying will he done at night, excepting where h e ha s to follow the coastline.
GOOD SEASON PROSPECTS. MELBOURNE, -May 13. The excellent season conditions ol the past summer and good rains in autumn and prospects of large outputs of wool, wheat and other rural products, are heartening signs of the times, states the National Bank ol Australia in its mouthy summary. The wool dip is expected to he particularly well grown and the clip per sheep more than two lbs. larger than last season.
