RADIO PROGRAMME
(Supplied by the Radio Broadcasting Company ol' N.Z. Ltd.) TUESDAY, MAY 12th. Till* instrumental portion of lYA’s programme this evening; will be given ly the Mont.' Carlo Orchost-a, under the direction of Mr F. K. Cunningham. This orchestra will also provide a portion of the dance music session. Mr Arthur Wright, a popular hass-baritoue. and Miss Joan Laird, soprano, will be heard in several songs, while Mr A. B. Chappell, M.A. will give l his usual weekly Topical Talk. Amongst the items to be played by the orchestra will be selections from “Cavalbria Rusticsna,” and “The Country Girl.” The concert from 2YA will he of the popular type. The Salon Orchestra under Air AT. T. Dixon will play the overture “.Massniello,” Drdla’s “Serenade,” “Petite Suite Modei’iie,” a bracket of three small pieces “After Sundown,” “\ r a|se Staccato” and “Adagio Pathetiqiie”—and the latest dance novelties. Bertliojd and Bent, specialists on Spanish and Hawaiian Guitars, will he beard in a number of up-to-date melodies. The major portion of the vocal items will be given by the Lyric Quartet. Two of their items have been specially written for the Lyric Quartet by Air Claude M. Hayden, M. 8., of Lower Hutt. Aliss Mvrt'i» Cliote, mezzo-soprano, will sing three songs to violin obligati. Selected recordings will supplement the vocal artists.
A quartet of soloists at 4A'A, all of whom are br'iinnt concert artistes '■« Mary Pratt, Aliss T)°rotbv Sligo, Air Wilfred Kershaw and Air F W. Robbins--will make their second appearance at 4) A on luesdav opening. The humour for the evening will he contributed by Air Buster Brown, the well known Scottish entertainer. Tli > instrumental portion of the programme will be provided by the Band of the First Otin'o Regiment, under Lieutenant T.lew 0. Aston. Silent day at 3YA.
