DUTY REDUCTION PROPOSAL. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 11. The Government’s intention to ask Parliament; to sanction a reduction in wheat and flour dutie s next session was announced by the Prime Minister in a statement to the' “Dominion” today. . It is proposed that from February Ist., 1932, the duty on wheat shall be reduced by Is 4d per bushel, and that the duty on flour shall be reduced by £2 ,18s pef ton. A base nrice of 4s 8d per bushel is to b> fixed for wheat, the duty on this commodity being then ninepence per bushel, and sliding scale will operate as the price varies from the base figure. The base price of flour is to be £l2 10s per ton, the duty being thirtytwo shillings per ton.
