SOVIET BUTTER
/ DUMPED IN BRITAIN. '[tltutod Press Assoeiutioo. —-By Eleotrtf i'ejegrifph.—^Copyngiit. j < / LONDON, May 11. Tile “Mail” says: Ten thousand barrelief Soviet butter are arriving in Britain to-day. This importation is expected further to depress the Australian, and New Zealand butter prices here. A member oi the House of Commons Mr J. Berner (Conservative) asked lit. Hon. Mr (President of the Board of Trade)- whether he realises that ihe merchants’ difficulties are due j to the :i sale oif the Russian butter below the Empire costs of production, and also if he intends to prohibit any further Soviet imports. Sir William Wayland declares that the Soviet Government is losing heavily upon these exports of butter to Britain; The exports were owing to the Soviet’s policy of depressing the market, which is being done in order to cause an Empire crisis. The Soviet butter is being blended with Australian'and New Zealand butter, which is sheer .trickery, for which a butter marking order is imperative.
