SAFE ROBBERY

HAUL OF £2199 IN NOTES. NAPIER. May 6. Further details of the robbery of the Public Works Department office safe atf jVlurapara, iorty-six miles from Rotorua, reveal the fact that the sum taken totalled £2199, this being £699 in excess of the sum which wag yesterday reported to have been taken. The haul, which was all in notes, consisted of- 309 £5 notes, 601 £1 notes and 100 10s notes. The notes of the last denomination, all Rank of New Zealand notes,s were numb9recKfrom-'.G324091 to 0825000, and were signed by J). F. Reid and O. 8. Davy. The actual times between which the daring burglary was effected were 9 p.m. on Monday and 4 a-.m, yesterday. No details as to how entrance to the office safe was effected have been received.
