The Legionaries who remained loyal to King Alfonso paraded the streets near the official residence of the High Commissioner carrying Royalist Hags and were instantly opposed by' infantry, who overpowered them. There were many casualties before the Royalists were disarmed and marched back to their barracks.

A mutiny at the Legion’s headquarters at Dar Riffen followed immediately, the Legionaries overpowering the officers and locking them in cells.

The High. Commissioner ordered three infantry regiments from Ceuta to surround liar Riffen. Shots were exchanged and further reinfocements were necessary before the Legionaries surrendered.

The mutiny greatly excited the natives at Tetuan where a general strike was declared. The demonstrators broke the Residency windows and pillaged European shops. Native cavalry failed to disperse the rioters. Street lighting is progressing.
