RADIO PROGRAMME
(Supplied by the Radio Broadcasting Company of N.Z. Ltd.) WEDNESDAY, MAY.(3th. All stations will this evening broadcast the results of the , municipal elections held to-day. Tile results will intersperse the concert prograiymes. The Auckland Anglican City Mission will give a programijhfja full ot variety and humour at IYA. It will be under the capable direction of the Her. Jasper Calder. There, will be sketches, choruses and vocal music. 2YA will ho broadcasting a miscellaneous concert, interspersed with results of municipal elections . SYA’s programme will include Miss Millicent O’Grady, lyric soprano, who will he heard in four ballads; “Cupid” “The Curtain falls,” Annie Laurie” and “By tile. Waters of Minnetonka.” There will lie contralto solos from Mrs 1). W. Stall a rd. Mr T. D, Williams will sing three popular songs: “The Trumpeter,” “Drake Goes West” and Land of llojie and Glory.” Mr Jock Lockhart, the Scottish entertainer, will dispense humour in s (, ng and story. On the instrumental side of the programme will be Mr Norman Coffin '(.eornetist) and the Studio Octet. The recordings introduced will include orchestral and brass band selections, the Ural Cossacks, a mouth organ band, a novelty item by melodeon players and selections by tile Berlin Lute and Mandolin Band. The Cavershani Afetliodist Church Choir conducted by Mr John Davidson, assisted l>y the Studio Instrumental Trio will provide 4YA’s programme. Uiis is a specially good combination. Part songs and choruses, as well as solos, will be the feature of the programme. From IYA, 2YA and 3YA, to-mor-row afternoon the home science talk will be on “The Dining Table and Table Service.” To-morrow afternoon, 4YA will be broadcasting trotting results.
THURSDAY, MAY 7th. The Savoy Male Quartet, consisting of Messrs Bert Skcels, Frank (.'amphell, Arthur Gaily and Sid Pofflcy, a popular combination at IYA. will be singing this evening. The Orchestral Octet will be heard m several numbers, including “Three Jevingtou Sketches,” “The Maid of the Mountains” selection and “My Lady. Drag-on-fly Suite.” Tile programme will c nelude with a - gramophone lecturerecital to be gi von .by Alias Molly Atkinson, entitled “Immortal Mozart.” A special studio concert to lie given hv the Salvation Army Band H,, d assisting artists, will be broadcast. by >\ A. A very interesting programme has.been arranged. The vocfll portion is will varied, and includes choral numbers by a girls’ choir and a male voice ichoir, iwitfi duets -and s°los. Features of the programme wifi be the piano solos by Mr Hayden Redway lid concert Im. solos by Brigadier r ""rie, a violin solos by Miss 0. Burton, a cornet solo by Bandsman Dutton nn<l trios by Misses Gray aiiu Burton and All's Peterson (piano, organ and violin.). A “Shakespeare Night” is scheduled by 3YA. The programme has been arranged and will be presented by (he Canterbury Repertory Theatre Society. Numerous excerpts, humorous as well as dramatic, from the works of the great writer, will be acted. and musical numbers, vocal and instrumental, will be given. Airs R. -J- AleLa ren will be the soloist, singing “Where the Bee Sucks.” “It wits a Lover and His Lass” and “Under the Greenwood Tree.” Silent night at 4YA.
