LABOUR GENERAL ELECTION ISSUE. RECENT PREFERENCES. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, May 3. Recent speeches by the Prime Minister and other members of the Government are interpreted by the “Manchester Guardian” as indicating the possibility that the next general election will be fought on the constitutional issue resulting from the House of Lords amending of rejecting policy Ineaisures such as the School Age Leav„ ilig Bill and the Land Utilisation Bill. It is pointed out that resentment at the treatment of certain Government measures has been put in the forefront of the Prime Minister’s recent bv election messages, and in a speech last night he emphasised tho point that the House of Lords must be subjected to the will of the people. The first Lord of the Admiralty, Mr A. Y. Alexander, at the same meeting, also declared that the House of Lords must he dealt with, and Mr Wedgwood Bonn, Secretary for India, at another meeting, spoke on. the same issue.
