LENDING RATES. Professor Belsliaw observed at the Auckland Economic Society j that rates of interest did not adjust themselves to the conditions of supply and demand as rapidly as most people believed. In. his opinion, concerted action on the* part of the Government and the .banks; would have an important effect in relieving the present difficulties, providing such action was practicable.
