LOUD DETONATIONS
A WESTPORT EXPERIENCE. (By Telegraph —Per Press Association) WESTPORT, May 4, Although Westport Ims experienced many qunites since the big shako on June 17th, 1929, loud detonations occurred on Friday night, and early on Saturday morning. The must alarming and worst occurred at 1.30 on Saturday morning, and continued until daybreak. They were like a severe thunderstorm and appeared to come from tlie sea. The actual earth movement was not severe but the noisy was like a hat. tery of heavy guns in action. With each severe detonation there was a distinct upward thrust. It eased off on Saturday and last night was also quiet.
A peculiar feature is that it was not felt in the mining townships, situated in the hills, only twenty miles from Westport.
