LABOUR VOTE SPLIT. (United Press Association— Be Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) LONDON, May 1. 'Amazing scones followed the declaration of the poll at Ashtou-under-Lyn-e. This is the first seat contested by Sir Oswald Mosley’s now party. There was a threatening crowd outside the Town Hall, who blamed the new party for the Conservatives’ success. Mr Young (th e Mosley candidate) was smuggled out by way of a side exit from the Town Hall, by a strong .police guard. Sir 0. Mogley and Lady Cynthia Mosley also, and others of their supporters attempted to follow him, but a crown of twenty thousand people block the way. Fists were shaken in their faces, and there were cries of ‘Traitor!” ‘Dirty dog! You let the Tories in!” An attack seemed imminent. Sir 0. Mosley, hatless, smilingly faced the crowd. Eventually he was escorted to his hotel,' .where another huge crowd blocked the doors. Later on he addressed them from the balcony, and he said that he vas relighted with Mr Young’s vote.
