There was a lively incident in the House of Commons when .several qnt-:--tioiis relating to King Alfonso were dis allowed. .Mr Kirkwood said:—”'.ihis question ha- got to lie discussed. This man was driven from the country where he murdered my class.” ( ri<-s of dissent. Air Kirkwood:-■■"'Only the Speaker will out me down.” The Speaker:—-”! alin'd have to deal with you if you misbehave.” Mr Kirkwood:—"Deal with me as severely as you like. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.” ihe Speaker:—“You will leave the House if you do not behave.” the incident then subsided. Mr Snowden moved to permit the Eiminee Bill to embrace taxation of land values, though this would not operate till the .subsequent year. This was carried without division. Mr Snowden gave notice of motion imposing a 1933-34 tax of n penny in the pound on every unit of land in Britain.
