The' New Guard is the name of the protective volunteer organisation with a membership of thousands which lul been officially launched in New South Wales', A similar organisation has ftL ready been formed in Victoria, Its chief objects are the maintenance ot law and order, protection of property and lives, sane, honourable government and social service, and suppression of disloyalty. Its officers, in a statement issued tonight, declare the New Guard is in no sense a secret society. Jt will not tolerate interference with the liberty m the subject, and will become operative only when existing forces of law and ol der fail to cope with a crisis
