To-day is the last but one for the filing 0 f an appearance by the State Government, in answer to the claim by the Federal Government for 6557,519 sterling paid as overseas interest on the State’s account. The New South Wales Statu Cabinet have commuted to life impriisonment the death sentence on Leonard Greeneock for the murder of William Thompson, cabled on Deo-miber 17th. TER At OF IMPRISONMENT. MELBOURNE. April 28. Walter Toohev has been sentenced to three and a-half years imprisonment,. MOUNT MORGAN MINE. LIQUIDATORS LAST ACT. MELBOURNE, April 28. The last stage of the liquidation of Mount Morgan Gold Alining Company of Queensland was reached, when the liquidators obtained from the shareholders permission to destroy the hooks of the Company and pay to Walter and Eliza Hall trust, the unexpended balance of four hundred pounds. The liquidator, Mr Naill, said the distribution of 23s lOj-d on eac-h twenty shillings share in the Company was i satisfactory.
