An American Newspaper Publishers Convention decided that radio programmes if published should he handled as paid advertising ; also that news broadcasting be restricted to newspapers and press associations. There was much discussion on heavy newspaper loses due to advertising over the air. Ayloswurth. head of the National Broadcasting Cov., threatens if the newspapers discontimietheir radio programmes as news, that the Broadcasting Companies may go into the publishing business. AMERICAN BUDGET LOSSES. NEW YORK, April 26. Exports of United States cotton last year were valued at only one hundred millions sterling, the lowest since 191.5. The Postal Department shows deficits including airmail services totalling about twenty million sterling. The loss on the merchant marine is twenty-seven millions. STOCK PRICES' DROP. (Received 10.20 a.in.) NEW YORK, April 27. .Millions of dollars were lopped of! values of the stocks as liquidation progressed. The exchange experienced much dumping of stocks, (following the suspension for insolvency of West and Company, a stock commission house. The market is still anticipating further difficulties among brokerage firms. Oil shares dropped to a new low level, and nearly all. amusement issues did similarly. Railroads Mere consistently weak. Rubbers excepting Goodyear, fell sharply. Now low levels for the year or more were made by United States steel, Dupont. Westinghouse, Firestone, Bothleham steel, Western Union. G. W. FULLER. VANCOUVER. April 27. Homeward hound from London, the former Premier, Air G. W. Fuller of New South Wales, arrived to-day. Questioned if ho would return to political life, he declared “I am not prepared to say 1 am definitely through with public* life.” He declined to discuss political affairs in Australia.
