AGITATION TO BE PUT DOWN. [United PreHß Association.-—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.] DELHI, April 27. Replying to an address from landowners Sir Geoffrey De Montmorency, the Punjab Governor, declared that the answer to the Government’s recent policy of toleration had been a renewal of hostile demonstration and incitement to violence. The time had come to control it, and the Government would undertake that tank without further ado. A grave situation prevails in the Northwest Frontier, and the Administration there may have to ask the Central Government lor powers to prevent th? spread of hostile, subversive movements. Trouble is being caused by the Red Shirts and the Youthful League at Charsadda, who are openly anti-British. An Air Force aeroplane flying over the Khajuri Plain on reconnaissance duty crashed during a storm. It is feared that both the occupants wore killed.
REVOLUTION THREAT. STRINGENT MEASURES IMPOSED. (Received 8-oo a.in.) DELHI, April 27. The threat of a repetition of the revolutionary outbreak of last year has led to stringent measures at Chittagong, where, in addition strong forces have arrived of police, and five hundred Gurkha troops, who are picketed in the streets, in which armoured cars are constantly patrolling, Several suspected terrorists houses have been searched and fourteen arrested,
