A committee comprising many leading digiiiUires 01 the Episcopal Church of the United States have prepared a report to be submitted to tile General Episcopal Church Conference at Denver on September Kith. next, recommending the removal from the Church laws of all of the grounds of divorce, including that of adultery. Their pew Canon of .Matrimony defines nine grounds for the annulment of marriage. The Committee requests that, the .Ministers of the ( liiirch shall, at their own approval, he permitted to marry persons already divorced, oil whatever grounds, if such, marriage is one allowed by the Committee's reeommended “ Eoelcsiastienl Martial Court” and the Committee also recommended that if performed, any marriage shall •he performed by a special service, nob within the church, nor with the use of “Common Prayer Rooks.” The Committee also will ask that public and private instruction on marriage shall be made compulsory, where, as without these stipulations, combined with a written pledge that both of the parties will conform to the church’doctrines, marriage by an Episcopal priest is, to la 1 forbidden. A PRESBYTERIAN VIEW. At the same time as this report is made, one lias been prepared requesting the Presbyterian Church to approve of birth control by artificial means.
