TUESDAY, APRIL 21st
The main feature of lYA’s programme this evening, is the second appearance of Mr Denis Sheard, the well known Australian tenor. Mis? Gladys Edwanles, another visiting Australian artist possessing a parti eu 1 arly fine soprano voice, well known to 2YA listeners, will make the first of three appearances at IYA. Misses Edna and Phyllis d'ye "ill be heard in vocal and piano numbers. A Topical Talk will be given by Mr A. B. Chappell, M.A. Mr Reg. Morgan and his orchestra will he providing the instrumental portion ot the programme, and they ' will also provide dance music until 11 p.m.
A programme of the popular type will be presented from 2YA. The Salon Orchestra will feature that very clever composition bv Saint Saens, ‘‘The Carnival ol Animals,’’ ior two pianos and orchestra. The vocalists for the evening will include The Melodic Four in a varied and intereslins programme, Mrs Isabel Hollands (soprano) will lie beard in popular ballads. The White Coons, novelty instrumentalists, will again delight I'st.en ors with dulcimer solos and trios.
' 4YA will be presenting a band concert, to' be provided by tile Dunedin Tramways Band under the conductor;hip of'Mr Chas. T. Morgan. Soprano and contralto solos will be given by Miss Pearl O’Neill and Miss M. Stokes respectively. • Mr N. Gamble (baritone) and Mr W. B. Lambert (bass) will also be singing. Air J. B. McConnell will give two humorous recitations and two violin solos will be played by Miss Thelma L«ppSilent day at 3YA. The Dunedin Radio Exhibition opens to-morrow at 2.30 p.m.
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 22nd
The instrumental portion of lYA’s programme this evening, will be provided by the Birkenhead Municipal Baud, under the oonductorship ol Lieutenant J. T. Lighten. They will play among other numbers, the selection “The Pirates of Penzance,’’ the overture, “The Crimson Star” and “Hamlet” selection. The (>rpheu s Quartet, consisting of Miss Chrissie Foster Miss Cathlecn Mulqiieen, Mr Sid. Poffley and Mr E. M- Newlmg, will give several excerpts from the musical comedy, “'I he Quaker Gisl. Altogether this should be a veiy bright and happy programme. 2YA will be featuring the next instalment of the International programmes—recordings selected liom overseas broadcast entertainments. Dr Guy H. Scholefield, 0.8. E. will give a talk on aa international topic. The Broadcasting Company is cooperating with the radio dealers ol Dunedin in regard to the Radio Exhibition, opening to-day, and is providing the concert programme each evening. A model studio has been arranged at the exhibition and the leading artists ol Dunedin will contribute. There will be two sessions to-night and in the interlude there will be a programme from 4YA Studio. To-night’s performers will he the R. S.A. Choir under Mr John Leech, Miss Eva Judd (violinisto), Air Chas. Alartin, Alus. Bac. (pianiste), an orchestra und>r Mr Mkx Scherek, an operatic party organised by Mr Alfred AValmsley, Scottish humour from Mr B. Brown, piano novelties by Air J. Aloore-Wilson and a session of dance music by Air J. MrCnw’s Novelty Syneopatoru. The programme will be broadcast by 3YA as well us by 4YA.
