SYDNEY MORNING HERALb. A SPECIAL ISSUE. (Australian Press Association.) (Received 8.00 a.m.) SYDNEY, April IS. The “Morning Herald" marks its centenary this morning with a 68 page newspaper, reviewing the early history and progress of this journal and of the State. A facsimile of the first copy of ‘‘The Sydney Herald. April 18th. 1831.” which is inseted contains some quaint advertisements, and news items. Striking photographs of four generations of the Fairfax proprietary, together with pictures and woodcuts of the coaching bushranging days, primitive. methods of travel of the early settlement, local gatherings at the opening of the first railways, accompanied by pen pictures of the growth of commence and industry.
lit addition a magnificent illustration of the almost completed Harbour Bridge, makes the centenarv issue, of which four hundred and fi ty thousand have been printed, a noteworthy contribution to Australian journalism.
