Advice lias been received by the Westland County Council that from the Ist. April, the wages payable by the. Highways Board on main highways. are to be at the rate of 12s Od per clay for married men, and 9s per day for sjngle men. There is to lie, also, a reduction of ten per cent on the charge for hire of road plant used on the highways. The reduced scale of wages for surfacemen and others on roads is the general rate payable throughout the Dominion.

A meeting of the general commit-r-e of tin* Kokatalii-Koiterangi Winter Show held on last Saturday night. There was a good attendance of members, Ah- James Fleming (President) occupying the chair. After considerable discussion, it was decided, ?n view of the general conditions prevailing, not to hold a Winter Show this year. 'The decision was almost a unanimous one.
On Wednesday next in, the public hall. Kokatahi. a most enjoyable concert will he given by the Kokatahi Lillies, a very capable hand of entertainers. The benefit is in aid of the Kokatalii-Koiterangi Sports Club, and so there should be a crowded attendance. The concert will consist of bright choni'es and solo numbers ami all told it should be very successful. A ball is to follow and a good time is in store for patrons:

Captain McGregor, the well-known aviator, noted for his wonderful control of his machine, made a successful flight yesterday over the ranges from Canterbury to lkamatua Aerodrome, fie did the,journey in just under one hundred minutes, travelling under ideal conditions. He made a perfect landing at 4.30 p.m. Though he did not descend in the section of the landing Hold that he will us'e during His stay in giving the public flights, he had no difficulty in the field which he those. The landing ground, the best on the West Coast, is a mile square. The aviator wilt stay until Monday, when he will return to Canterbury.
A correspondent writes:—The Bishop of Christchurch accompanied by Mrs West-Wetson will visit Boss on Tuesday. April 21st. at 7.30 p.m. There were be a service at St. Paul’s Church with lantern slides a.nd address on Palestine by the Bishop of Christchurch. April 22nd.. Wednesday, 7.30 p.m. the Bishop will dedicate the new church at Waitalia and there will be a Confirmation. Supper will be served in the hall. All friends are welcome. On Apri 23rd,. Thursday, at Harihari there will be Confirmation service. On April 26th., Sunday, at AVailio, the dedication of the Church will take place at 2 p.m., after which there will be tea in the Hall. Visitors from an parts are cordially welcome. In the evening the Bishop will hold a Confirmation service. During the week the Bishop and Airs West-Watson will visit Karangarua and Bruce Bay returning to Grcymouth by Afny Ist.
