RADIO PROGRAMME

In lYA’s variety programme this • •.veiling the Orchestral Octet’s items will include the selection “Gipsy Princess’’ and the clarinet solo “Serenade” (by Schubert). The vocalists for the evening are three well known artists: Miss Kileen Smithson (singing popular songs) t Miss Nellie Lingual (contralto) and Mr Arthur Wright (bass-baritone). The programme to be presented at 2) A will be of a varied and interesting nature. The Orche.strina’s selections will include the overture “Minstrelesque.’’ Miss Ann Gilpin (mezzosoprano), a newcomer to the studio, should prove a welcome acquisition to 2YA programmes. Mr Yal .Jones will sing and Mr Dan Foley (light baritone) will be heard in “On the Road to Mandalay,” “What the Red Haired lies'u Said,’’ and “Kißy of Colprain. A feature of the programme will be a banjo orchestra, which has been organised by Mrs H. G. Reeves.

Miss Nancy Bowden (contralto) and Mr J. Gallagher (a new-comer to radio, who will sing songs of a popular type) will be the vocalists on liYA’s programme. As a saxonlione solo, Mr Lyndon Christie will play the famous quartette from ‘‘Rigoletto.” fie will also play a “Nocturne.’’ a rather unusual type of item for a saxophone. Birch will play a selection from “Maritana,” and “Paradise Alley.” Mr J. Woodhnin, an exponent of the mouth organ, will entertain with a number of popular airs.
