THE COUNCIL. WELLINGTON, April 17. In the Legislative Council yesterday, \y the Mortgagors Rebel Bill was reported from :. the Statutes Revision Committee with amendments. Sir T. Sidey explained it was proposed to limit the operation of 'the Act until 31st December, 1032. A new S clause had been inserted dealing with 1 contracts for - sale made alter 18th March,-, and prior to the passing of the Bill.. The-..amendments were agreed to in committee and the Bill passed. * The Council adjourned at 4 pan. THE HOUSE. In the House of Representatives 9 the Leader of the Labour Party moved the adjournment of the House, to enV* able a discussion to take place on the li. suspension of the Unemployment Boards No. 5 Scheme, and the alterations .in Scheme outlined by the Minister of Labour. Tile Unemployment { Board’s activities were criticised. Hon. Smith, in reply, outlining the. various schemes it had put into effect, declared when all the facts were known, the public would ntfrec tbe board had achieved great results in the i’aee of difficulties. The Finance Bill (No, 2), was introduced by Governor-General’s message, a — i Replying to Mr Stewart and others, Hon. Forbes said in addition to the savings involved by both Finance Bills, there would still he a gap between the revenue, and expenditure.
