RADIO PROGRAMME
(Supplied by the Radio Broadcasting Company of N.Z. Ltd.) WEDNESDAY, APRIL loth. Amongst the items by the IYA Orchestral Octet this evening will be a selection of Mendelssohn's Songs, “Indian Love Lyrics,” and “A Day in Naples.” The New Zealand Four, consisting of Messrs James Simpson, Roy Dormer, Eric Alannall and Albert Gibbons Taylor, will render solos, duets and quartettes, many of which will be new to listeners. A further Topical Talk by Mr A. 13. Chappell, ALA., will be given. The weekly presentation of selected recordings from overseas programmes will be made by 2YA. Dr Guy hi. Scholeficld, 0.13. E., will give a talk on a subject of international interest. Mr J. North, a Scottish singer making his debut at 3YA this evening will include in his recital several songs of his homeland. Two Scottish songs nrp to he contributed by Miss Acklie Campbell, who will also sing the popular Irish air “Danny Boy.” Tenor solos with orchestral accompaniment will be sung by Air Charles 11. Williamson. Pia.no novelties will he played by Mr Bert Goodland. A very lively instrumental programme will be the Studio Octet’s contribution to the programme. A special studio concert to he given by Signor Giovanni Stella, introducing the brilliant young dramatic soprano, Signorina Rossi, and eminent assisting artists, will be broadcast by 4YA. THURSDAY, APRIL 16th. Two Australian broadcasting artists, new to IYA, will lie singing this evening. They are: Mr Denis Sheard, tenor, and a very line contralto, Aliss A. E. Harrison. Humour will he provided by Air Dan Flood, and Mr Cyril Towsey will he heard in a group of pianoforte solos. The Monte Carlo Orchestra, under the direction oi Air E. K. Cunningham, will he providing the instrumental portion of the programme, which will include a gramophone lecture-recital on “French Afusie’’ to he given by Aliss Alollie Atkinson 2Y\\s programme will he provided bv the orchestra of tin* AVellington Commercial Traveller*’ and Warehousemen’s Association. An exceptionally fine concert has been arranged and should prove a treat to music lovers. Afr Philip Hinge (baritone) and Aliss Doris Benson (mezzo-so-prano) will he the vocalists. At 3YA, to orchestral accompaniment, Miss Millicent Jennings will sing three songs, two of them being .Svrian smuts, which will he new to listeners. The other soloists will he Aliss Francis Hamerton (soprano), Air Russell Sumner (tenor) and Air T. I). Williams (bass). Afiss Thelma Cusack, f violin iste) will be accompanied by the Studio Octet in the playing of Aocolav’s “Concerto in A Minor.” The Octet’s programme will include the overture “Fidelio,” Bizet’s “Spanish Serenade,’’ “The Nutcrackei Suite” and “Cavalleria Rusticana.” From 9.130 till U n.m. a programme of dance music will ho provided by Lvtirlon Christie’s Rhythmic Sympbonists. Silent day at 4YA.
