The question of the curtailment of tin., number of members of Parliament by one half, came up before the Council of Wellington Chamber of Commerce last night. A letter from the Associated Chambers of Commerce asked for an expression of opinion, both upon the principle involved and the method to be employed in establishing it. After a lengthy discussion it was agreed that the matter was too important for immediate decision and it was referred to the legislative committee. Air C. J. I!. Norwood was elected President. of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce last night in succession to Mr D. J. .McGowan, retired.
