VALEDICTORY
A complimentary social and public presentation was made at Kumara on .Monday evening to Dr Dorothy ,J. Booth. who is retiring 'from her position as medical officer at Kumara. The .Mayor (Mr A. IL Spiers; presided over a very large ami representative attendance. Mr James Murphy (President ol the Kumara Medical Committee), then read a beautifully illuminated address which was the work of Mr J. A. Peever. and reflected great credit on 'in, hv the artistic manner in which it was drawn up and illuminated gratis for the Kumara Medical Comm The address was worded : i lie officers and members ol the Kumara Medical Association tender to Dr Dorothy Month their sincere thanks for, and appreciation ,of the services rendered by her 1.0 the people of Kumara. during the past live years. Her personal qualities have endeared her to both young and old and iV is with sincere regret that they have to bid her farewell on tb<> occasion of her forthcoming marriage. In handing over the address, Mr Murphy also asked her to accept a parcel nif geld specimens which many subscribers wished her to aeept as a souvenir from residents of Kumara Goldfields District. Various speakers testified to the good work of the retiring Doctor and expressed good wishes for her future. The Mayor presented Doctor Booth with an address and parcel of gold from the citizens. Dr. Booth, in replying said she was too overwhelmed at tli<. great kindness shown, ’to express her feelings in words. it was kindness itself, and sli" would never forget if. Kumara had been her first place *o set He in after she had arrived in New Zealand, and she had received nothing but kindness 'from the people since the first day she arrived.
