INCIDENT IN HOUSE. WELLINGTON. April 9. The Minister of Labour dealt with several urgent questions regarding unemployment when the House met today. He informed Mr O’Brien (Labour member for Westland) that the Unemployment ; Board bad fully considered the position of young single men with dependents, but had decided, in view of the lack of finance and the extreme difficulty of placing married men, that single unemployed could only be considered under Scheme 4a. A Labour member, asked bow these men could pay their unemployed levy. The Minister replied that the board was doing its utmost to prevent hardship -in such cases. ‘‘Let the unions pay the levy,” interjected Mr Lysnar- (Gisborne). A Labour member: They have not got unions, 1 you old cow!
