AN ATTRACTIVE RESERVE
SCHEME FOR CREATION. (Tin Telegraph—Per Press Association) NAPIER, April 11. A scheme for the creation of an attraction reserve, involving the use of a great quantity of spoil, which fell from the Bluff Hill during the earthquake, is among the improvements, which are contemplated for the Marine Parade. “1 intend to use the spoil from the Bluff slip to fill in the area near me Municipal baths bounded by the retaining wall, which the Thirty Thousand Club built” said the Commissioner, Mr J. S'. Barton, explaining the proposal. “A start will be made with one acre, which will he top dressed through the-assistancc of citizens without cost to community. Tn fact 1 think I have the money in hand now for the work of filling and levelling the area. The Superintendent of reserves has assured me that such an area could produce a good sward of grass.” Mr Barton continued: —‘‘It would provide n fine site and a good position for any borough amenities, which might be placed there. Later on it might he decided to build a theatre there or if such a proposal happened to he considered unwise, a tea kiosk or some other building might be placed there.”
