RADIO PROGRAMME

lYA’s programme this evening will be the first of a series to be given by the Auckland Savage Club Orchestra, under the direction of Mr Archie Don. A very fine programme has been arranged. Humorous item* will be given by Savage J. Hngben and Savage W. H. V. Taine. There will he baritone solos by Savage Bernard Carter. 2YA’s concert programme is to be provided bv a party of entertainers known as the “The Paua Club.” There will be plenty of variety on both the vocal and instrumental sides. The programme, will also include two sketches.

3YA has a programme of the opera-tic-classical type. The vocal portion will be provided bv Mira C’orrie Aslin, Miss Dulcie Mitchell, Mr H. J. Francis and Mr Clive Hindle, in solos and concerted numbers. Two quartettes, “Early One Morning” (an English

folk fiong) and “Land of Hope and Glory” will be sung. Pianoforte solos will be played by Mrs Madeline Pooke, of Pareora, well known in musical hi roles as Miss Madeline Hughes. A quintette consisting of two violins, ’cello, harp and organ will play “Meditation.” An enjoyable orchestral pro<n\nmmo will be provided bv the Studio Octet under Air Harold Beck. Silent day at. 4YA. FRIDAY, APRIL lOtli. A miscellaneous programme, full of internet., is promised by IYA for this evening. The Civic Novelty Trio (consisting of piano, violin, marimba saxophone) will hi- heard in several iiuinO.rs, and Air Simon Philipoff an artist, on the balalaika, will play. Anthony’s Oration over the body of Ceasar,” and “The Story of the Old Ram (by ARblc Twain). Vocal items, two of them being negro spirituals, will be given by Alis.s Dorothy Lovelace Milne (soprano). Air Victor Baxter (haris-baritone )will sing among other pongs, “The Two Grenadiers” and “Song of the Volga Boatmen.” .Mr Cyril Towsey, studio pianist will play two solos.

Dorrio and Laurie, n novelty duo. not previously heard from 2YA, will amuse listeners with patter and song this evening. Tenor songs by Air Oswald AlcGuinness will be sung to orchestral accompaniment. Airs Enid Truda (soprano) will delight listeners with three numbers, “VVajata Alaori,” “Les Clochfis” and “Serenade in Summer.” She will also he heard in “Irish Medley” in association with Mr McGuinness. Air Claude .Moss (baritone) will sing “Route Alarehin,” “Boat Song” (by Ware) and “A Brown Bird Singing.” Interspersing the programme will be selections by the Orel)ostrina.

At 3YA a popular programme will lip presented. Miss Nellie Lowe, contralto, will .sing “Buy My Strawberries,” “Dream Canoe,” Shins that Pass in the Night” and “Beloved it iis Morn.” There will he soprano solos by Mrs \V. B. Harris. Mr James Shaw will sing “I know of Two Bright Eyes” and “Sally in our Alley.” Baritone solos by Mr A. G.. Thompson will be “W.innin’ Thro’ ” and “Standing By.” Humorous items will bp given by Mr Geo Titphener. There will be piano solos by Miss Aileen Warren and cabaret songs to improvised accompaniment by Messrs Carlisle and Les Grummitl. A lecture-recital on “Favourite National their history and origin” i will be given at 4YA by Mr John Leech and bis company of artists. Songs characteristic of all the principal countries in the world will he sung. Explanatory remarks will he given by Mr Leech.
