Miss Evelyn Robinson, a well known Wellington contralto, will be heard from IYA this evening. Her numbers include “Faster Flowers” and ‘‘Alleluia.” Other vocalists on the programme will be Miss Marjorie Fair (soprano) and Mr A. 0. .Me PI tail (baritone). Another new artist to IYA will be Mr Trevor Binns, a young humorist. The Orchestral Octet will be playing several numbers including ‘‘Tile Evolution of Dixie,” and the suite “Music Pictures.” The programme will conclude with a lecturerecital on the latest gramophone recordings. '['here will be the usual Wednesday night programme at 2YA—recorded features from overseas broadcast entertainments. Mr Chas. E. Wheeler will l>e the lecturer.
3YA’s concert programme will be of the popular miscellaneous type. The Studio Octet will provide the orchestral accompaniment to Mrs Agnes Cunningham’s mezzo-soprano solos: “Absent,” “Somewhere a Voice is Calling,” “Fairy Pipers” and “Home Sweet Home.” Baritone solos will be contributed by Mr Leslie N. Fleming. Popular tunes will be played by a new banjo duo, Messrs J. N. Havord and M. George (two excellent performers), accompanied by Mrs Louis Ploy (piau-ist-o). The Mascots will net two sketches. The programme by the Studio Oetet ) under Mr Harold Beck, will be of a bright nature.
-IYA has an exceptional concert arranged for this evening, starring Margherita Zolauda (coloratura soprano), Miss Alary Pratt (contralto), Mr Arthur Macdonald (baritone). Mr Max Scfierek (pianist) and the Instrumental Trio.
To-morrow afternoon the home science talks from IY\, 2) A and 8A A. prepared bv the Home Science Extension Department of Otago University. will be on “New Ways of Esing Apples.” THURSDAY, APRIL 9<h. IYA’s programme this evening will he the first of a seri<s to be given by the Auckland Savage Club Orchestra, under the direction of Air Archie Don. A very fine programme has been arranged. Humorous item* will he given by Savage J. Hoglien and Savage W. H. V. Tninc. There will he baritone solos by Ravage Bernard farter. 2YA’s concert programme is to be provided by a party of entertainers known as the “The Paua Club.” There will be plenty of variety on both the vocal and instrumental side's. The programme will also include two sketches. 3YA has a programme of tin 1 opera-tic-classical type, The vocal portion will be provider! bv Miss Currie \slin. Miss Duleie Mitchell. Air H. J. Francis and Mr Clive Hindle, in solos and concerted numbers. Two quartettes. “Early One Morning” (an English folk jsong) and “Land of Hope and Glory” will he sung. Pianoforte solos will be played by Mrs Madeline Pooler*, of Parcora, well known in musical f-ircles as Ari«s Alndeline Hughes. A quintette consisting of two violins, ’cello, harp and organ will play “Areditation.” An rmj«>val)l ( . orchestral programme will be provided by the Studio Octet under Air Harold Beck.
