TENNIS

The tournament held by the combined Clubs on Easter Monday was not commenced on time as rain in the mornning left the. courts unplayable until 12.30 when a start was made. Although the seven events scheduled could not he played four were completed arid the day proved a success, the play being of a high standard with very little margin between the competitors. The results were as follows: Men’s Championship Singles:—L. Gooch (Hokitika) runner up P. Doughty (Hokitika). Ladies’ Championship Singles:—Mrs Eeclesfield (Koka.tahi) runner up Miss Knight (Hokitika). Men’s Handicap Singles:—-H. Fleming. (Kokntahi) runner up Dr. Haves (Hokitika). Ladies’ Handicap Singles: —Miss Kelly (Kokatahi) runner up Miss Wells (All Saints’).
