THOUGHTS OF THE TIMES.

REFUSING TO FACE FACTS. The Prime Minister is doing what he thinks is absolutely necessary for the safety of the country. The Labour Party, on the other hand, though its solicitude for the wage-earner must be respected, refuses to face facts. It is perhaps too much to expect that, having taught the wage-earner so long and vehemently that the capitalist is his natural enemy, and that the capitalist’s money store is inexhaustible, the Labour Party should now admit that both these statements, and specially the second, are erroneous, but it is plain that the past of the party seriously handicaps it in dealing with this crisis of the present.
