SERIES OF THEFTS. AUCKLAND, April fi. Four boys, whose ages range I rom 12 to 11 years, were arrested ly Act-ing-Detective Hamilton on numerous (marges of breaking and entering city warehouses and shops, and committing theft. Two were caught last evening and the other two were apprehended this inuniiug. After bring interviewed at the Deled ive Office, they were allowed to return to Iheir homes. The quartet will later ho charged before the Children’s Court. Recently a number of thefts have beam committed in such a maimer as to suggest that an expert burglar Imd brijii a.t work. However, after much enquiry it is claimed that it has not been established that the thefts were carried out by youths. In one case a

clever "burglary wasinrried out at the warehouse of Caro ami Jnrret, Ltd. Wyndliam street. In order to gain entrance, a climb was involved up a sleep pipe and the lifting of a window on 1111 ■ first floor. Three valuable watches and £lO 10s in cash were stolen. Another warehouse entered was that of A. and T. Burt, TAd.

From other shops in the city sweets, soft drinks, and cigarettes, and also sums of money wore stolen. One of the intruders purloined a fountain-pen from a shop. It is alleged that he explained to the detectives that lie gave this to his ‘‘girl friend.”
