There were present:— His Worship tlm Mayor (Mr G. A. Perry) in the Chair; Father Finerty. Messrs J. ,J. Breeze M. McGuvin, E. Thorn, ]>. J. Evans and T. W. Bruce (Hon Secretary and Treasurer). Apologies were received from Rev. Knights and Mr Jeffries. A quantity of formal business was disposed of. including arrangements for the repatriation jpf some of the Hawkes Bay residents wlm had been in the district for some time. Tlie Treasurer reported that the following were the ascertained district contributions to the fund; —- £ s d Hnrihari list. pe r the County Chairman 118 6 6 Kumara Borough 117 16 6 Boss Borough 117 6 7 district List acknowledged 1,383 14 11 Further funds to come (estimated) 70 0 0 £1,807 3 G The Treasurer stated the expenses were very small. It was resolved the Mayor and Treasurer finalise the accounts, and have a balance sheet prepared for audit and public inspection, paying an.v local accounts and remitting the balance to the central fund. The Mayor expresed appreciation at the splendid response from all parts of the district. It was an excellent effort on the part of the people in view of -the times, and he Wit they should acknowledge the response, made and the efforts of all those who assisted with a vote of appreciation. This was agreed to. The Chairman referred also to the great amount of work performed by Mr Bnito as Secretary. He had been prompt and attentive to all his duties, and no doubt the success of the effort was due greatly to his good organisation. A vote of thanks was carried by acclamation. Mr Bruce said bis work bad been a labour of love. As a former resident of Napier he felt he bad tlie right to assist, and any assistance he had given has its reward in the fine response made.

A vote of thanks to the Mayor for presiding closed the proceedings and the Committee 1 disbanded.
