Byrd has received the Langley Medal for the Serodromics and has been el evnted by Moms. !,. Claudel (French Minister) from the rank of an officer t 0 that of Commander of the Legion of Honour. Admiral Byrd exhibited liis usual timidness at the ceremony. He gave all the credit for his work to his ship mates. He stated: “There are .several projects worthy of attention. a flight from Siberia across the North Pole, for instance, or over unexplored regions in Argentina. Little America, has many secrets. We must learn, but although ,1 am shaping tilings up. lam unable tot reveal.mv exact plans. If 1 did, I would be flooded with requests from men who would go with me.” He declined to discuss the Nautilus expeditions beyond saying “Wilkins is one of the world’s best fellows.”
