LATE LOCALS.
A very pleasant little function took place on Friday afternoon in Mr Cox’s drawing-room when the ladieof the Croquet Club entertained Mrs \Y. J. Butler. During the afternoon the guest of honour was made tinrecipient of a- pair of motoring gloves Airs Afackay (who made the tjon) referred in a very delightful and able speech to the many sterliir r qualities of Airs Butler. She refer red to that lady’s unceasing energies not only in connection with the Club itself, but in many othe r direction as well. Mrs .Bailor graciously replied and expressed her gratitude to mi" and all. Afternoon tea was served and a Bridge tournament was held in which Afrs Cox gained higherscore, and AH's Hopkins second. Song" were clontrihuted hv Afrs A. Perry and Afis.s Anne Duff, accompanied b> Afrs Carver, and musical honours for Afrs Butler followed bv “God Save the King’’ terminated ;l happy afternoon.
