MISSING PLANE

STILL NO TRACE. (Australian Press Association.) MELBOURNE, March' 26. There is still no trace of the missing air liner “Southern Cloud,” which disappeared last Saturday afternoon. To-day’s search for the “Southern Cloud” was extended to cover new territory in New South Wales as far north as Yass and Gundagai. Pilot Alleny in the “Southern Star” made an unsuccessful tour of the Kosciusko district.

The theory that the plane has gone into the sea is now supported by a statement by Group Captain Cobby to Kingsford Smith that he heard a three engined plan e over his home at Malvern, Victoria, at 3.30 p.m., on Saturday.

Kingsford Smith to-day flew down over the waters on Port Philip, one of his observers sighted what might have been part of the wing of a plane. Kingsford Smith turned sharply, but the object could not be seen again. Horsemen are investigating numerous reports from Bowser that a plane was seen flying in the direction of the hills, and at night flames were seen (from all points of the compass). Ground parties advanced on Mount Disappointment through rough, difficult country. Many believe that this mount holds the secret of the airliner’s disappearance.: THE DAY’S SEARCH FAILS. SYDNEY, March 26. The day’s search operations were completed with no sign of the Southern Cloud being discovered. Billiards
