THE HOUSE, TO-DAY’S SITTING. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 27. The House resumed at 9 a.m , A division on Mr Semple’s amendment was taken at 10.50 a.m. and resulted in it- rejection by -10 to 24. Messrs Black, Hogan, Fletcher, Rushworth. Wright and Young voted with La hour. Messrs Sykes, Harris and Kyle who supported the previous amendment were absent from the Chamber at the time of the division.

Mr Parry launched the next Labour amendment, which sought to- limit the application of the reduction to sums exceeding £2lO. He explained it set out a protest at the existing basicwage. on which he believed prosperity depended.

Mr Parry’s amendment was still under discussion when the House adjourned jit 1 p.m.
