THE ECONOMY CAMPAIGN. The in-formation which the Prime Minister has communicated to the Lower House respecting the public finances simply serves to emphasise very strongly the necessity for drastic measures if the Budget is to be balanced next year, For the current year, which is drawing to a close, there is no escape from a deficit. Unfortunately it will be a much larger deficit than Mr Forbes last month anticipated it would be.
