VICTORIA'S BIGGER YIELD. MELBOURNE, March 14. A further appreciable improvement in the Victorian gold yield occurred r; February as a result of the merer. d activity in fossicking in all parts of the ■State, and the Mines Department expects even better results in the • ■■nr future. Within a few weeks the equipment of about 1500 additional prospectors will have been completed. The department is also assisting gold seekers in other directions, such as ihe increased provision of batteries and the unwatering of mines. It is officially announced that the yield of gold for February was 25620 g; gro»s J or 23770 z fine, valued at £10,099, Compared with the return for February of liast year there was an increase of 102407. fine, For the two months of the year, the yield has been 44/>7oz fine, valued at £18,933, an increase of 21510 z fine, compared with the same period last year.
