Inability to secure a further loan for development work, about a thousand men are being retrenched on Friday by the Metropolitan Water Sewerage board. Tnis represents one third of tlie board’s regular employees. It is feared another fifteen hundred will be rendered idle in the near future resulting in ithe interference of developmental work, which will mean a shortage of water in the city area next summer.
