RADIO PROGRAMME

(Supplied by the Radio Broadcasting Company of N.Z. Ltd.) FRIDAY, MARCH 20th. Mr Reg. Morgan’s popular orchestra, will provide the instrumental portion of lYA’s programme, the items including a violin solo by Mr Gar. Fowler, entitled “Hungarian Dances," a saxophone duet by Messrs V. and V. Hoffman, “La Golondrina,’' and several dance numbers. Miss Joyce SetliiSmith (mezzo-soprano) will be heard in a. group of classical ballads. Mr Claude H. SuLsted (baritone) is also singing. The vocal numbers at 2YA this evening will be accompanied by the Orchestrina. Mrs A-. P. Truda (soprano) and Mr Denis Sheard (tenor) will be singing. Also on the programme are, Mr Billy Hart (songs at the piano) and Mr Lad Haywood (exponent of mandola and mandolin). These two artists have combined forces and should prove very acceptable in instrumental music and vocal items with piano, mandola and nkelele. The instrumental music will be of a bright and breezy pature, in some instances the choruses being sung. Mrs H. Turnbull (mezzo-soprano) from the West Coast, will make her debut in radio at 3YA. Associated with her on the vocal side will be the ever popular Mi«s Nellie Lowe and and Mr A. G. Thompson, who will sing solos and duets. Miss Maisie Ottey, a very clever pianisto, will contribute some novelty numbers. Humour will be provided by George Titchoner. Mr M. E. Withers (clarinetist) will play and further instrumental items will (>c provided by the Christchurch Broadcasting Trio. Two artists will make their debut to 4YA microphone. They will Miss W. Martyn (elocutioniste) who will present dialect numbers and Mr W. T-I. Sattertliwaite (tenor). Other artists to perforin are Mrs E. Stone (a vry fine contralto), Mr R. Macdonald (bass) and Miss May Brooks (soprano). Tile popular Kenz Orpl’eans also appear on this evening’s programme and have added to their repertoire the very latest hits.

(pianist) will play. A new Hawaiit! instrumental quartet will contribute to 3YAM variety programme. Tin’s quartet consists of three steel guitars and a banjo-ukelele. Also on the programme will be Air Jock Lockhart (Scottish humorist), -the Rose and Thistle Duo in cabaret songs at the piano with banjolele, Miss Aileeoi Warren (pianist,?) Mr W. W. Sumner (accordian player), Mr E. R. Pitman (tenor), Mr Leslie Fleming (bafts) and the Christchurch Broadcasting Trio. This programme will he relayed 10 4YA.
