Smith will be the first recipient of tm* Sograve Memorial trophy, which the sculptor Gilbert Bayes is designing. The award is for the most outstanding demonstration of the possibilities on land,air. or water transport, stimulating others to uphold British prestige by a deonstration of how courage, initiative, skill and the spirit of adventure can assist mechanical development. Smith receivers it for his Anglo-Aus-tralinn flight.
