RADIO PROGRAMME

(Supplied by the Radio Broadcasting Company of N.Z. Ltd.) THURSDAY, MARCH 19th. A new radio artist on lYA’s programme this evening, Mr William Coleman (tenor), will sing three sougi which were popular many years ago, “Come into tne Carden, Maud,’ “Sally in our Alley,” and “Bianca.’ Miss Patti Selmackenberg, (contralto; will also sing, and novelty pianol'ortnumijors will be given by Mr 1). Armishaw. The instrumental portion o}' the programme will be provided by the Orchestral Octet. The ever-popular Asquiths will present another of theii clever drawing-room entertainments and the programme will conclude wib, a gramophone lecture-recital of the latest recordings to be given by A Commentator.

“A Night with Ketelbey” will bt the programme at 2YA. It will Ik provided by the Wellington Commercial Travellers’ and Warehousemen’s Association Orchestra, under the conductorship ol’ Mr J. F. Woodward. There will be supplementary voea. numbers by Miss K. Mdvor (soprano, and Mr A. I. Murray (baritone).

Featured on 3YA’s programme will be Professor R. C. Zim menu a mi, eminent violinist and conductor, of Christchurch, whose violin solos will be played orchestral accompaniment. The vocal portion of the programme will be provided by the Melodious Quartet. A number of duets and solos will also be sung, several of them having orchestral accompaniment. The vocalists will he ; Miss Frances Hamertoip MFs Millicent Jennings, Mr Russell Sumner and Mr T. D. Williams. A varied orchestral programme will bo provided by the Studio Octet under Mr Harold Beck. Silent day at, 4YA.

FRIDAY, MARCH 20th. Mr Reg. Morgan’s popular orchestra will provide the instrumental portion of lYA’s programme, the items ineluding a violin" solo ■by Mr Gar. Fowler, entitled “Hungarian Dances, • a saxophone duet by Messrs U. ami V. Hoffman, “La Gotondi'ina,' 5 and several dance numbers. Miss Joyce Setlihmitli unezzo-soprano) will be heard in a group of classical ballads. Mr Claude H. Suieted (baritone) is also singing. The vocal numbers at 2YA this evening will be accompanied by the Orchestrina. Mrs A. P. Truda (soprano) and Mr Denis Sheard (tenor) will be singing. Also on the programme are, ■Mr Billy Hart (Songs at the piano) and Mr Lad Haywood (exponent of mandola and mandolin). These two artists have combined forces and should prove very acceptable in instrumental music and vocal items with piano, mandola and ukelele. The instrumental music will be of a bright and breezy nature, in some instances the choruses being sung. .Airs H. Turnbull (mezzo-soprano) from the West Coast, v\ ill make her debut in radio at 3VA. Associated with her on the vocal side will be the ever popular M.iss Nellie Lowe and and Mr A. G. Thompson, who will sing solos and duets. Miss Maisie ()t----te.v, a very clever pianiste, will contribute some novelty numbers. Humour will be provided by George Titcheiier. Mr M. E. Withers (clarinetist) will play and further instrumental items will' be provided by the Christchurch Broadcasting Trio. Two artists will make thej r debut to 4YA microphone. They will Miss W. Martyn (elocutioniste) who will present dialect numbers and Mr W. H. Satterthwaite (tenor). Other artists to perform are Mrs E. Stone (a very fine contralto), Mr R. Macdonald (bass) and Miss May Brooks (soprano). The popular Kenz Orpheans also appear on this evening’s programme and have added to their repertoire the very latest hits.
