■COLLEGE OPENED AT SILVER-STREAM.

WELLINGTON, March 16

In the presence of about four thousand people, Lord Bledisloc on Sunday afternoon opened the- new St. Patrick’s College at Heretauhga. There was a representative gathering present, including Archbishops O’Shea and Redwood, the Prime Minister and other .Ministers, the Chief Justice- and other Justices, Mend>ers of Parliament the -itr . y Director of Education, and the heads of various otlier educational institutions. An apology for absence W.-s received from Bishop Sprott. Father Dowling welcomed the guests. Archbishop RcdwuoJ presided and gave a message of thanks and loyalty to Lord Bledisloc, who congratulated tbc Marist Fathers upon their achievement. He expressed admiration for the building equipment.

The new school stands on sever-'1 acres of ground in pleasant, tree-stud-ded fields, backed by bush-clad hills. The building is a two-story brick structure, designed in accordance with the latest ideas and requirements. The secondary school is equipped and furnished on the most modern lines. The cost of the building was £76,000, the whole cost, including the land, being £IOO,OOO. A (band is still to be erected from the funds raised'by the old boys.
