DETEhMINED SUICIDE. YOUNG MAN FROM QUAKE AREA (Australian Press Association) SYDNEY, .March 13. John L, Maxwell l.efrov, aged 20 years, described as an engineering undergraduate from the Hnwkes Bay earthquake area, recently arrived here to take up a course at the University He was fmiml dead in a gas-filled room in thy Glebe residential area. Tlie room was sealed and the gas had appn.renvfy been on for twenty-four hours.
ENDURANCE SWIM. SYDNEY, March 15. There were five contestants left ir the endurance swim at Rushcutter’s Bay, at the end of 28 hours One is a fourteen-year-old girl, Sylvia Dean. Two were the legions men, Zimrny, and ,Morris. There were also the man Roberts, who has one leg, and an Englishman named Jefferson. The remaining girl retired ten minutes later. Had her age been known earlier, she would not have been permitted to start.
