ARCHBISHOP’S PROPOSED VISIT
OBJECTION BY VATICAN. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) LONDON, Mfjrch 14. The “Times" Rome correspondent states although the report that the Vatican has formally protested against the Archbishop of Canterbury visiting Palestine is incorrect, there is reason to believe that the Vatican conveyed certain considerations to the British Government
Tt is recalled that on a previously proposed visit, the news of which provoked opposition of Roman Catholics, resident In tho Holy Land, the project was abandoned. Such a visit to holy places by the Archbishop of Canterbury would , *•!.- bn miss not onlv Roman Catholics, hut other Christ ■in cults. The Vatican considers that nothing could be gained by changing the equilibrium which has been established, but does not sec any objection to the Archbishop of Canterbury making a health vovage to the Mediterranean and visiting Palestine privately as an ordinary pilgrim.
