BREACH OF PROMISE

The Bachelor judge, Mr Justice MoCardie, when trying a breach oi promise ease in which a thirty-three years old woman was awarded £155 damages against a thirty-three years old man who broke their eight years engagement because lie met a wealthy Park Lane widow, said: “Instead of assisting womanhood, these actions have greatly lowered their dignity. There, is no more degrading occupation lor a judge and jury.’’ The Judge continued that they did, however raise the point as to whether it was desirable for a girl to accept a man without setting some time limit io the engagement.
