On Tuesday night fSt. Patrick’s night) a concert- entertainment is being given by the Knkatnhi Lilies m the Kanicri Hall in aid ol the Karthquake Fund. The event is going to he very enjoyable as when the company appeared in Kokatnhi some months ago they were received with a crowded house and their efforts much appreciated. The cause is a worthy one and at the moderate price the Kanieri Public Hall should be crowded. A dance is to follow and so it will be a fitting finish to what promises to lie a first class entertainment.
The rights of motorists on bridges and the rights of drovers in charge of sheep was discussed at last night’s meeting of the Waimairi County Council. Air Gardner said that with so many sheen nit the roads at the present time ln> would like the council's ruling whether a prosbeution should follow where a motorist had driven over a bridge while a mob of sheep were passing. Mr Walter said that no one had a right to divide a mob of sheep on a bridge. The motorist should wait, even if it took an hour. The council decided to prosecute the ladv motorist concerned.

Speaking in the House of Representatives yesterday, Mr Barnard, member for Napier paid a striking tribute to the member for Westland in references to his services in the earthquake area. Mr Barnard said that if any man stood out from all others as deserving of special thanks, it was Air O’Brien, who had visited the stricken area. Air O’Brien saw that there was nobody in authority, and he had worked incessantly for several days for the recovery of the dead and injured. “AVe shall not soon forget.” said Afr Barnard, “the signal service that" was rendered by^the Afemher for Westland during our period of stress.”
