ADDINGTON STOCK SALE. CHRISTCHURCH, Match 12. Beef and lamb values fell at the Metropolitan Market at Addington' yesterday. The offering of fat cattle was of lower quality than lias been the ease at recent., markets,.-, A large proportion was made up of plain and unfinished steer heel'. ‘Hie wale dragged from the outset, and values were down all over by from ,L 4to LI os a load. Fat lambs were eißei'etl, in huge numbers, and formed the most attractive offering seen this season. 'I here were only odd pew< of small lambs in the sale-, fhe largest part of the offering being made up of veilgrown and attractive animals. The freezing buyers’ schedule was down by J ( d to 4.Ml j and this infimmeed prices. However, there were plenty of lambs for till r quire-ment-s, and butchers paid high prieen for special lines. Fat sheep) met a. very irregular sale. The entry was jratehy, and contained a good deal of an unattractive class. Values were about oil a par with those of last week, but were inclined to weaken, especially for lighter ewes. The entry of vea lei's was nimill and of mixed quality. Prices were about, mi a par with those ruling at the previous market. There was a good entry of fat pigs, but except for light-wcigat porkers, the demand was weak. Beef values were :

Two-year Hereford stem's made to £4 7s fid, and two-year heifers L 3 to L 3 'Us. A pettjof Ifi tuo-ycar Shorthorns sieers made £4 ,12s fid. Apart from these cattle there was not a great many worth-while sorts in, except a Lite oi lour purebred Shorthorn isteet's, i ighte.cn months old which sold at to. Fresh cows made L2 17s fid, and potting hulls brought late rates. ■ -Dairy Cattle.—Ther ( . was an entry of fil head of dairy cattle—an increase on the last, market. Quality was mediocre. There wa s a general decline in valuciS of up to £1 a head. Values were:— j Gcpd second and third culvers, L 9 to £lO. Medium third culvers. Lfi 10s to L 8 Aged and inferior, £2 10s to L 5. The sale was a good one, and was especially good when compared with rates ruling in the fat pens. Values were; Weaners, 14s fid to 20s. Slips, 18s to 2fis. Small stores, 27s fid to 30s. Large stores to 30s.
